Hannah's Banana Bread

Hannah's Banana Bread

Ever since I made empty tomb rolls with my son Dev,  my oldest, Hannah, has been begging to make something together. I had a few ripe bananas so we decided to make her most favorite banana bread. This girl loooooooooves banana bread!

I inherited this recipe when my husband and I got married and its hands down my favorite recipe to use. So here we go!

fool proof recipe :)

Hannah banana mashing the bananas, do this step first!

After mashing the bananas, get the sugar and eggs and combine them. Oh, make sure your butter is almost all the way melted. I don’t know why, but the bread turns out better with melted butter.

Add the melted butter and combine. Hannah is the best egg cracker too. I always manage to get shells in whatever we’re baking, she on the other hand, she cracks them perfectly every time!

Add the baking powder, salt, and half the flour. Mix, add half the mashed bananas, then the rest of the flour, mix, then the rest of the bananas and mix. The recipe says to sift the dry ingredients. I don’t think we’ve ever sifted them and it’s always turned out great.

Once mixed, grab your bread tin and spray it with non stick cooking spray. You can also use a muffin tin or tiny little bread tins. just cut your baking time but a third or just check every 20 minutes.

Now this is the most important part. Add chocolate chips! We love banana bread with chocolate chips! Hannah usually puts two handfuls in and it’s perfect.

Add your batter to the bread pan. (This part takes forever but I don’t mind. Hannah’s very meticulous and a perfectionist. I have no idea where she gets it from ;) ).

Voila! ready for baking! Put your batter in for 50-60 min. My bread browns quickly so I usually put some tin foil over the bread at the 30 min mark.

And done! butter the top of the bread as soon as it comes out of the oven and sprinkle with the cinnamon sugar mixture. Then dig in!
