Palm Sunday

Triumphal Entry

Christ rides into Jerusalem on the back of a donkey. He is greeted by multitudes of people shouting “Hosanna, Blessed is the King of Israel that cometh in the name of the Lord!” They recognize Him as their King as they lay down clothing and branches for Christ and his donkey to walk on.

Palm Sunday Hosanna

READ: Mathew 21:1-17

This is an important event, as it shows that the people hold him in high esteem.

Go out in nature and find large leaves or branches resembling palm leaves. Alternately, color or create some of your own. Children can act out the triumphal entry in a reverent way, if they learn better this way.

Potential discussion topics:

  • Talk about the deep sign of respect it was to lay down palm leaves and their own clothes for the donkey to walk on.

  • Discuss why He was angry at the moneychangers.

  • Talk about how it must have felt to be healed.

  • Discuss how we, as a family, can prepare our homes for Christ.
